Full Text

The death occurred in Guelph on Saturday, April 26th, of Mrs. Mary Cline, relict of the late David Cline, who for a great number of years was a citizen of Grimsby and district, at the age of 82 years. Mr. & Mrs. Cline resided in Grimsby for a great number of years and the bake shop on Depot Street was built by the late David Cline and conducted by him for a number of years. The librarian of the first library in Grimsby was Mr. Cline and was located at that time on the property opposite the home of Mr. H.H. Marsh on Main Street. After the death of her husbahnd in 1875, Mrs. Cline continued as librarian and the library was moved downtown into part of the double house, which stood on the property opposite the post office which was moved away a couple of years ago. A number of years ago, Mrs. Cline left Grimsby to reside with her daughter, Mrs. Christie of Guelph, at whose home she passed away, and with Mrs. Oliver Adams, Oshawa. The body was brought to Grimsby for interment, the funeral taking place from the residence of Mr. & Mrs. G.W. Muir, Livingston Avenue on Tuesday afternoon, to St. Andrew's Cemetery, the Rev. Currie officiating. The pallbearers were six of her old time friends in Grimsby, namely Albert E. Terryberry, S.E. Mabey, W.W. Beamer, W.F. Clarke, E.J. Palmer and Edward Mihell.
