Full Text

The death occurred at the City Hospital, Hamilton, Friday night last of Daniel Heddon, a butcher belonging to Campden. About a week ago he was in the act of killing a hog when the animal plunged forward at him, driving the knife into his thigh. A doctor was called in and dressed the wound but blood poisoning developed and he was removed to the City Hospital here. His condition became worse and the doctors found that the only means of saving his life would be to amputate his leg, which they did. However, he was too weak to stand the shock and death relieved him Friday night.
