Following a short illness, the death occurred of a fruit grower of this district for 40 years and a former well-known horseman, in the person of Louis L. Hagar at his home, 47 Paton Street, on Monday morning, in his 83rd year. The late Mr. Hagar retired from active work six years ago. In religion he was a member of the Anglican Church, and he was also a member of Wentworth Lodge, A.F. and A.M., of Stoney Creek. Surviving are one son and two daughters, Herbert, of Grimsby, Mrs. Grace G. Pettit, Grimsby Beach, and Mrs. H.O. Beattie in British Columbia. The funeral was held from the Stonehouse funeral home on Tuesday afternoon, interment in St. Andrew's churchyard. The pallbearers were Messrs. W.F. Geddes, A.F. Hawke, A.C. Palmer, H. Biggar, W.E. Smith and R.O. Smith.
