Born in Saltfleet 65 years ago, William Henry Hildreth, husband of Carrie Lymburner, died at his home in Tapleytown on Saturday, April 27th, after a brief illness. Mr. Hildreth had lived in the community practically all his life. He was road foreman for 15 years at Tapleytown and superintendent of the Tapleytown United Church for the last 25 years. Surviving, besides his wife, are three daughters: Mrs. Cecil Tweedle, Tweedside; Mrs. Franklin Tweedle, Stoney Creek; Miss Mary Hildreth, Hamilton; one step daughter, Mrs. Nicholas Shafley of Wainfleet and 8 grandchildren; five brothers,Charles, in Stoney Creek; John, Grimsby; Hiram, Hamilton; Frank, Grimsby, and Elmer, Tweedside; two sisters, Mrs. William Davis, Smithville, and Mrs. Dave Gunning, Dunnsville. A private service was held at his home in Tapleytown on Tuesday at 2 o'clock, thence to Tapleytown United Church for public service at 2:30. Burial was made in Tapleytown cemetery.
