Full Text

The sad death occurred on Friday morning last at her late residence, Nelles Boulevard, of Amy Minerva Smuck, beloved wife of Gordon G. Byers, in her 69th year. Although Mrs. Byers had not been in the best of health for some time she had been confined to her bed for only the past three weeks and her passing came as a distinct shock to citizens generally. She was born near Hagersville, the only child of Ithmur Smuck and Mary Howard. She came to Grimsby with her husband in 1934 where they resided during the summer months, having spent the winters in Florida. Her husband survives. The funeral, which was attended by a large number of friends, was held on Monday afternoon from her late residence at 2:30 o'clock, with interment in Queen's Lawn Cemetery. Rev. Harvey Merritt, pastor of Grimsby Baptist Church, conducted the service, assisted by Rev. W.H. Howard of Delhi and Rev. Earl Dale of New Hamburg. The pall bearers were Messers. J.H. Culp, J.H. Forman, J.H. Gibson, C.H. Walker, F.A. Oakes, and W.L. Bengough.
