The residence of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Griffin, of Smithville, was the scene of a happy gathering Wednesday, Feb. 4th, it being held in honor of the 80th anniversary birthday of Mr. Griffin. The guests consisted chiefly of the immediate members of the family, which went to make the day much to be appreciated. Among those present were Chas. Wade, a life-long friend aged 82; Jno. Lounsbury, Treherne, Man., a brother-in-law; Mrs. L.L. Lounsbury, Toronto, Ont.; Mrs. J.E. Boulton, Windsor, Ont.; Mrs. Bruce Greer, Cabri, Sask.; Mrs. Wm. Beamer, Caistor township and Ira Griffin, Hamilton. Mrs. L.L. Lounsbury was accompanied by her daughter, Miss Winnie; Mrs. Beamer by her husband Wm.Beamer and their four children and Ira Griffin by his wife and son, William; Wilbert Neal, Niagara Falls, and Mr. and Mrs. David Saunders, Smithville. It had been 10 years since a like gathering has been celebrated, at that time on the old farm in Caistor, on the occasion of Mr. Griffins 70th anniversary.
