After many weeks of great suffering death came to the release of Miss Emma J. Davis, a highly esteemed young woman of Beamsville, on Sunday, July 11th, 1920. The deceased was born in Beamsville in 1881 and was educated in the public and high schools here and attended the Toronto Normal school. On two different terms she held a position on the Beamsville Public School staff. She also taught in North Pelham, North Grimsby and for the past 12 years had been on the staff of Earlscourt Public School, Toronto. In June 1919 she underwent an operation and spent several months in the hospital in Toronto, returning to her home here early in April. Although not unexpected her death came as a shock to her many friends. Her mother and one brother Loyal of Beamsville, and two sisters, Mrs. B.W.Grigg, Waterloo and Mrs. A.H. Daney, Toronto, survive. The funeral was held from the family residence, King St. on Tuesday afternoon, interment in Mount Osborne cemetery. Rev. T.E. Meldrum conducted the services.
