A former resident of this city (Hamilton), William Bateman, passed away in Toronto early this morning, after a brief illness, aged 64 years. Deceased was a son of the late E.W. Bateman, who for many years conducted a bakery on King Street East. He was born in England and had resided in this city for about 25 years, latterly living in Toronto, retired. He was a baker by trade having been employed by his father when here. Surviving him, besides his mother, who resides at 6? Victoria Avenue North, are two daughters, Mrs. (Rev.) Quant, of Jackson, and Mrs. C. Mann, of Toronto, one son Walter of Toronto. The funeral will take place from the C.T.R. Station on arrival of 105 train on Wednesday, to the Hamilton Cemetery for interment. NOTE: the late Mr. Bateman was well known in this district, having lived at the Beach for several summers.
