Full Text

Pte. John Vincent Wright died of wounds which he received on March 2nd and which made it necessary to have him placed in #4 General Hospital in France. A previous message had been received that he was seriously wounded. For 2 years he was a member of the Hamilton Fire Department and was for 6 years a member of the 44th Battalion. His eldest brother has been wounded. His father is Adjutant of the Welland Canal Protective Force. Besides his heartbroken parents he leaves three brothers and two sisters. The deceased went overseas with the 98th Battalion and was transferred in England. Pte. Wright is well known in Grimsby having resided here as a lad. His father, then Sergt.-Major Wright, came here from England and first joined the 44th Regt. as Sergt.-Major of "H" Co.
