A highly respected native of Clinton township and a well known peach grower passed to his reward on Monday morning when Wellington Shepherd died in his 74th year at his home, near the Thirty. Deceased had been in usual robust health almost up to the time of his death. He had a long and useful life in the district in which he lived. He leaves to mourn his loss besides his widow, one son, Charles, at home; and six daughters, Mrs. Morris Walker and Mrs. Roy Walker, of Beamsville; Mrs. Hugh McMartin, Waterford; Mrs. James Kelley, Hamilton; Mrs. E. Walters, Winona and Mrs. G.L.Dawson, of New York city. Also three sisters, Mrs. Robert Phipps, Niagara Falls, N.Y.; Mrs. Sarah Wasnidge, Grimsby; Mrs. Annie Shepherd, Detroit, Mich. The funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. Stuart Wood conducted the services at the home and graveside. Interment was made in Mount Osborne cemetery.
