Widow of John A. Althouse, the former Ruperta Ann Halsted, who was born in South Grimsby 71 years ago, passed away Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Barnard, 221 Park Road South, Hamilton, following three months illness. The second daughter of the late Elija Buckbee Halsted and Mercy Miller, Mrs. Althouse had been a valued member of the Rock Chapel United Church, Vinemount, and was a life member and active worker in the Ridge Road Women's Missionary Society. Two daughters, Mrs. Barnard (Margaret), and Mrs. Andrew D. Althouse (Laura) Royal Oak, Mich., and 6 grandchildren survive. The funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at the J. B. Marlatt Funeral Home, Hamilton. Interment was in Queen's Lawn Cemetery.
