Following a lingering illness, Alice May Thayer passed away on Saturday evening at the home of her brother, F.A. Oakes, in North Grimsby township. She was in her 75th year and was born in Saltfleet township, a daughter of the late George and Susan Oakes. With the exception of several years in Toronto, she had lived in Grimsby district all her life. Her husband predeceased her 17 years ago.

She was a member of Winona United Church. Surviving are three brothers and three sisters: F.A., of Grimsby; W.H., of Hamilton; A.E., of Kingston; Miss Maude Oakes, Miss Lily Oakes and Mrs. Amy Utter, all of North Grimsby. Funeral services were held at the Stonehouse Funeral Home on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Fred Manning, of Winona, officiating. Casket bearers were Edward and Harry Walters, Glenn Reinke, Thos. W. Allan, Peter Graham and R.O. Smith.
