St. Andrew's Church, Grimsby, was decked with ferns and Easter lilies for the wedding of Avalon Marie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Galbreaith, Stoney Creek, to Second Lieut. William Phoenix, B.A., Gordon Head, B.C., son of Mr. and Mrs. B. Phoenix, Hamilton, formerly of Grimsby, on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. J.A. Ballard conducted the ceremony. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a long white brocaded satin gown and a full-length veil held in place by white gardenias. She carried a bouquet of Easter lilies, and wore a gold locket, a gift of the groom. Mrs. Schofield Hatherly, Toronto, was matron of honour, attired in an apple green bengoline suit, with green veiled felt hat trimmed with a gold spray. Her flowers were daffodils. Mrs. Hartley Barlow, Van Wagner's Beach, the other attendant, wore a matching suit in moss green, with brown felt hat and veil. She also carried daffodils. Lance-Bombadier Robert Phoenix was best man for his brother, and A.C. 2 Donald McIntosh, R.C.A.F., Jarvis, was the usher. Miss Gladys West, Beamsville, was the organist and Mr. Harold Jarvis, Grimsby, soloist. At the reception, held at The Pines, home of the bride's parents, Mrs. Galbreaith received, assisted by the mother of the groom. The couple left on a wedding trip to Niagara Falls, the bride wearing a blue crepe dress trimmed with alencon lace, with brown coat and accessories. Her corsage bouquet was of pink carnations.
