The Grim Reaper claimed another of Grimsby's most prominent and enterprising citizens on Thursday evening last, when Mr. A. W. Moore, after a lingering illness of several weeks, passed peacefully away at his home on Doran Ave. Mr. Moore had been confined for a considerable time previous...The deceased was born in the county of Welland 59 years ago, and when quite a young man forsook his native hearth to take up his residence in the States, finally settling down in Cleveland where he conducted different lines of business for years. He was one of the pioneers in the moving picture business in the Ohio metropolis, and was vastly interested in real estate there. He came to Canada again in 1910, when he came to Grimsby Beach with the late H.H. Wylie, and for several years conducted the moving picture show and the large restaurant at that place. During the winter of 1912 and 1913 he conducted a moving picture show in Grimsby, first in the old town hall, and latterly in Snetsinger's Hall. In the spring of 1914 he was approached by the town council and asked to build a theatre in Grimsby, which he did, and this fine building on Main Street which bears his name will ever be a monument to his enterprise and progressive qualities... A wife and two daughters survive him. The funeral which was a very large one, was held from his late residence on Sunday afternoon to Queen's Lawn cemetery and was conducted by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, of which he was a valued member. Rev. L.H. Currie assisted by Rev. McLachlan conducted the service at the house and the beautiful funeral service of the Lodge was read at the graveside...
