Notwithstanding the bad roads the annual tea-meeting at Temple Hill church was a success. After the chairman's address legard- ing the remaining debt on the church, the Roy. Messrs. Mclnnis, Fydell and Ross gave each rather long but inter- esting speeches, one on the Queen's Kegalia and Crown, e. another on Unity of the Churclies, and still an-, other on the famous Mackinaw Trip. Then came some magnificent anthems followed by that old rhyme "Ba, Ba, Black Sheep," set to modern music, which brought down the audience. Then Mr. W. A. Dorrington sang in fine style "They all love Jack." Mr. J. E. RicLards followed with "The Ruined Cottage." Kirkby, of the 4th line, Blanchard, was the scene of a yery pleasing event which took place on Friday evening, Sept. 2Gtli, it being the presentation of a silver tilt- ing pitcher to Miss Annie Kirkby on the eve ol her departure from this vicinity. Miss Kirkby has for a number of years been a constant attendant as S. S. teacher and organist of the church, in both of which capacities she excel- led, and as she leaves our midst onr loss will no doubt be deeply felt. The address v.-as read hy the Rev. J. Keuuer .and the presentation made by Mrs. C. Kemp and Mrs. C. Milncr. .\fter the reading of the address, Mr. Kukliy, on behalf of bis daughter, re- plied iu a few well-chosen and toucL- ing remarks, thanking them for this token of their love and esteem, and that iicr services rendered in the cbnrcli were all fur the Master. Tea was then served by the good ladies of the line, then followed amuse- ments of all kinds, afcer which the many friends returned to their respec- tive homes. The final and most pleasing event of iiU took place on Wednesday of this week, it being her marriage to Mr. John Sherirs, ol Markdale, Rev. J. Kenner officiating and judging from the numerous and costly presents which she received it will show the high estimation in which she was held by her friends here. They departed tho same evening by train from St. Marys to their new homo, and all join iu wishing them future happiness and prosperity. â€" St. Mary's Argue. TIIIZI^T WISDOM.
