Good For Joe

A letter from Major Pollock of the 147th Battalion, published last week in a contemporary, includes an interesting bit of news for Flesherton people, and more especially for the members of The Advance staff. It concerns Sergt. .Joe LeGard, foreman in this office when he enlisted, and eldest son of Mr. and .Mrs. Harry LeGard of the suburbs. .Joe has made good, and we congratulate him heartily on his promotion. We all have great reason to be proud of the number and quality of the boys who have gone from Flesherton and vicinity. Following is the item referred to :

" Sergt. Joe LeGard of the old D company has also done some good work and proved his fighting and leading capacity so pre-eminently that his company Commander recommended him for a commission, and now he is in England on a course, and when it is completed he will return to the battalion as an officer. So far as I know he is the first of the 147th boys to get his commission on the field and it is certainly a signal honor."
