Description
Full Text

The following strange incident appeared in Chatsworth correspondence in the Owen Sound Advertiser.--"A farmer and his wife residing not far from here, who recently lost a baby, were in the village last Fair day. They came across another woman carrying a baby in her arms and offered to buy it. After a little dickering a sale was [affected] in consideration of one dollar, and the new owner of the baby walked into one of our dry good stores, bought a shawl, wrapped the infant in it and [started] for home in the best of humor. [There] is no doubt of this story as the transaction took place before a [dozen] reliable people, several of whom gave your correspondent the names and residences of all the parties."
