Cecil Hill was Driving across Level Crossing when his Vehicle was Hit by Passenger Train at Vinemount - Wreckage Strewn over Surrounding Area.

Cecil Hill, 37, of R.R. 1, Grimsby, was killed shortly before noon Tuesday, when the truck he was driving was struck by a T.H. & B. passenger train one mile east of Vinemount Station.

The level crossing is not protected by a signal, but the view of the track is wide open from both approaches to the single line track.

The stake body truck was carried a distance of 100 feet from the point of the collision, and wreckage was strewn over the entire area. Hill's body was thrown clear of the cab. It is believed he died instantly.

Hill was a veteran of World War II and saw service overseas. He has been in the trucking business for a number of years. He is survived by his widow; two children, Kenneth, 9, and Dianna, 8. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hill, of R.R. 1, Grimsby, also survive.

Provincial Police of the Dundas detachment investigated. It is not likely an inquest will be held into the fatal accident.

The remains are resting at the Stonehouse Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted this (Thursday) afternoon at 3 o'clock.
