  Congratulations to Charles Carew, Lindsay who has received his navigator's wings at Malton this week.

  Flight-Sgt. Charles Carew is on active service overseas. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Carew.

CARTOONIST INJURED

  Friends of Charles (Chuck) Carew who first worked in the Stationery Dept. and then in Took Drafting, Genelco, before joining the R.C.A.F. will be interested to know that he is in a hospital in Scotland. Chuck had plural pneumonia and after being out of the hospital one week had the misfortune to faint and fall off a ladder so is again in the hospital with a broken ankle. Chuck may well be remembered for his clever cartoons that appeared in the Gun Shots every week before he enlisted.

  W.O. Chas. S. Carew, a son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Carew, Wellington St. has been 15 months overseas and has a number of thrilling experiences to relate.

This card is part of a larger collection of World War II personnel clippings. The project began in 1944 at the Lindsay Library. The intent was to gather together as much information as possible on the military record and the service of people from the Town of Lindsay and the County of Victoria (now Kawartha Lakes) who served in the war. To that end, during the years 1944, 1945, and 1946, members of the public donated photographs and updated information about their loved ones. Both library staff and the public saved and donated newspaper clippings. Some of the files contain great amounts of detail, while others have just a name.
